Assistant Store Manager

Before Poundland, I was working at Woolworths for 5 years where I started off in the stock room on a four hour contract and worked my way up the ranks. I left the company as an Assistant Manager as they went into administration and decided to join Poundland as it was a company which stood out and continued to expand despite the current economic climate. As the company is expanding the opportunity to progress is there to be taken.

It is down to yourself, if you have the drive and passion you will get the help and support needed to succeed from the company.
I was amazed at the number of customers visiting my store compared to when it was Woolworths, the store is almost half of what it used to be in size and the customers almost double. High customer numbers equalled high turn around of stock, we on average sell 90,000 products a week. A normal day at Poundland is like Christmas at every other retailer and Christmas at Poundland is on another level.

My main duty is to ensure we keep a high standard in the store, making sure we offer amazing value to every customer and a great shopping experience.

Working for Poundland is challenging but seeing the results of your hard work is very rewarding. I am also involved in developing colleagues and help them progress in the store, from general assistant to supervisor to assistant managers, whilst advancing in my own career towards my short term goal of becoming a store manager and my long term goal becoming an area manager.
