Technical Skills

  • Carry out basic stock control processes such as PI counts, damages, check in a delivery
  • Safe & legal – able to complete the Ready to Trade actions required to safely open the store
  • Understand the health and safety requirements of processing fresh and frozen food
  • Understanding of store’s key performance measures e.g. sales, shrink and availability

Essential People Skills

  • Being able to interact with colleagues, customers and visitors to the store in a friendly, polite way
  • Being able to buddy new starters
  • Good communication skills
  • Basic ER knowledge/skills e.g. handling absence when running a shift, conducting a return to work interview
  • Capable of running a shift with a leadership colleague in the background
  • Allocating task and follow up to coach colleagues on productivity and best practice

Practical Experience

  • Successfully completed ‘SCO Hero’ role
  • Worked in all areas of the store and skilled to complete all elements of the Colleague role
  • Able to apply and implement the correct replenishment and merchandising standards
  • Have responsibility for a section/department
  • Use the code rotation diary
  • Confident in using the till and processing sales
  • Involved in floor moves, promotional changes and able to read and interpret briefing documents
  • Understand what great looks like (WGLL)
  • 6-8 weeks period of accountability

Duration: 12 months, plus 3-month end-point assessment period.

Building on your knowledge of the retail environment, you will develop your customer and product knowledge while gaining all the essential skills and behaviours that help you be the best you can be.
